Why Quick Treatment Helps

Acting fast when dental emergencies occur gives your child the best chance for a positive outcome. Knocked-out permanent teeth have the highest success rate for reimplantation when treated within 30 minutes. Broken teeth need prompt care to prevent infection and additional damage.

Children’s mouths are still growing and developing. Baby teeth hold space for permanent teeth and guide their proper positioning. Untreated injuries to primary teeth can affect how permanent teeth come in later. Professional evaluation helps determine the right treatment approach for your child’s age and situation.

Dental pain can make eating, sleeping, and concentrating difficult for kids. Quick relief helps your child return to normal activities and feel better faster. We focus on stopping pain and addressing the underlying problem.

How We Handle Emergency Visits

We evaluate your child’s situation as soon as you arrive. Dr. Bennion examines the affected area, takes any necessary X-rays, and determines what treatment your child needs right away. This assessment helps us create an effective treatment plan.

Relieving pain comes first. Children cooperate better once they feel more comfortable. We use safe, age-appropriate methods to reduce discomfort quickly so we can proceed with necessary treatment.

We explain everything in terms your child can understand. Clear communication helps reduce fear for kids and parents alike. You’ll know what we’re doing and why throughout the visit.

Our full range of services means we can handle most pediatric dental emergencies right in our office. You won’t need to search for additional providers during an already stressful time.

What Happens During Your Visit

A thorough examination lets us see the complete picture. We check the injured tooth, surrounding teeth, gums, and supporting structures. X-rays may be needed to assess damage below the gumline.

Treatment varies based on your child’s specific injury or problem. We might need to repair a broken tooth, treat an infection, or stabilize a loose tooth. Our goal is to provide immediate relief while preserving your child’s natural teeth whenever possible.

You’ll receive detailed instructions for home care after treatment. We cover pain management, what foods to avoid, how to keep the area clean, and warning signs to watch for. Following these guidelines supports proper healing.

Some situations need follow-up care beyond the initial emergency visit. We schedule any necessary appointments before you leave and coordinate additional treatment if needed. You’ll have a clear plan moving forward.

Additional Services We Provide

Prevention helps avoid many dental emergencies. Regular checkups let us catch small problems before they become urgent situations. We also provide protective treatments like sealants and mouthguards for active kids.

Sedation options help anxious children receive necessary care comfortably. Some kids need extra support to tolerate dental treatment, especially after traumatic experiences.

Restorative treatments repair damage from decay or injury using materials designed for pediatric patients. We choose approaches based on whether we’re treating baby teeth or permanent teeth.

Meet your doctor

Dr. Kristopher “Kit” Bennion

Board Certified Pediatric Dentist

I’m excited to open Guadalupe Kids Dental and to be part of the community of Seguin and the surrounding area.  My family and I have been in Texas since 2008, when I completed my Pediatric Dental Residency at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania.  As part of my pediatric dental training I received extensive training in sedation dentistry and the treatment and management of medically complex pediatric patients.

My wife and I have been blessed with seven wonderful children, including my son who was born with Down Syndrome.  I know that each child is unique and requires personalized care.  My goal is to treat every child as I would treat my own, working together with them and their care givers to provide the care that is right for each individual child.  I emphasize prevention, education and when necessary, the most conservative treatment possible

I want to make sure that every patient and their families enjoy their dental visit and leaves confident and excited to return.
