What to Expect at Your First Visit
Your child’s first dental visit with us is all about building comfort and trust. During this initial appointment, we’ll take time to get acquainted with you and your child, discuss your concerns, and address any questions you might have about your child’s oral health.
For children under three years old, we often conduct a “lap exam” where your child sits on your lap while we perform a gentle examination. This approach helps young children feel secure during their dental check-up.
For older children, we’ll provide a comprehensive examination that includes:
- A thorough evaluation of your child’s teeth, gums, jaw alignment, and bite
Age-appropriate dental cleaning performed by one of our skilled hygienists - Dental X-rays if necessary (using kid-friendly, low-radiation digital technology)
- Fluoride treatment to strengthen tooth enamel
- Personalized oral hygiene instructions tailored to your child’s age and needs
Our team excels at explaining procedures in child-friendly terms, helping young patients understand what’s happening at each step. We believe that knowledge reduces anxiety and builds confidence in dental settings.

We understand that financial considerations are important when choosing a dental provider for your family. At Guadalupe Kids Dental, we’re pleased to work with most major insurance providers to maximize your benefits and minimize out-of-pocket expenses.
We are in network with most major insurance companies. (We are currently in network with Cigna, Atena, Delta, TMHP (medicaid), Ameritus, Principal, Connection, Carrington, Geha, Humana, Guardian) We are also in with many more, and will soon be in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Metlife and Lincoln Financial.
Our knowledgeable administrative team will help verify your coverage before treatment and explain any potential costs clearly.
For families without dental insurance, we offer a variety of payment options to make quality pediatric dental care accessible to everyone. Please contact our office to discuss the specific payment methods available.
Our new patient special includes a comprehensive exam and X-rays at a reduced rate—currently $125. This special offer helps families establish dental care for their children without financial strain.
The Guadalupe Kids Dental Difference: Our Dedicated Hygienists
Dawn is our Registered Dental Hygienist who graduated from Wharton County Junior College in 2006. Dawn knew she wanted to work with children and has worked in a pediatric setting since 2009. Her love, patience, and passion in her work surely shines through. Dawn enjoys teaching children all about good oral hygiene and taking care of their teeth, while educating parents about at home care to also help in ways to make taking care of your teeth fun. Dawn resides in Seguin, Tx with her husband Travis, and 3 children, Chance, Ensley and Easton. In Dawn’s spare time she enjoys making memories with her family fishing at the coast, hunting at their ranch in South Texas, and watching her children play sports and raise their livestock projects for 4H.
